Jan Green

Jan is a life-long resident of Southern California.  She began coaching in 1992 at St Anthony’s High School in Long Beach.  She has also coached at Gahr High School, and for eight years, at Long Beach Wilson.

Jan also coached club volleyball from 1993 to 2009 with a number of clubs including American Flyers, Cal Jrs, Quest and Long Beach Mizuno.

In addition to coaching Jan enjoys playing the game. She has competed in over fifteen SCVA National Tournaments having “medaled” in many of them.  In 2007 and 2009 she competed in the International Division at the Huntsman World Senior Games in Saint George, UT with teams representing Russia, Germany, China, Brazil, Canada, Venezuela and Latvia.

What Jan finds most rewarding is being able to build a strong foundation through skills and encouragement to shape a winning attitude. She feels confident in motivating players to utilize the skills they have learned to meet the challenges they will face, and to create the appetite and passion to achieve their personal best.

What’s important: Knowing how to motivate yourself, being able to stay disciplined and being responsible for your actions.

Jan believes that athletic ability is good, a positive attitude is great, but heart and desire is what it takes to be the best.

Fun Facts: She likes speed walking and bike riding.
Jan loves the teachings of Coach John Wooden, R&B and old movies.

"Champions Quest has definitely made me a more powerful player and a confidently proficient player. I like the friendliness of the trainers with their intensity in training. That your sport is not just something you do whenever you want to, it's on and off the field. It is more focused to your needs. Increasing your needs as a player."
